Freeform fabrication of nanobiomaterials using 3D printing
نویسنده
چکیده
Nanobiomaterials play an important role in nanobiotechnology and have made a great contribution to biomedical research and healthcare. Recent progress in nanobiomaterials has increased demand for multidisciplinary approaches from physical, biological and engineering sciences. Solid freeform fabrication (SFF) technologies are based on layer-by-layer deposition of materials which bring about new application possibilities for processing nanobiomaterials. The aim of this chapter is to provide a comprehensive overview of SFF techniques suitable for processing nanobiomaterials; current state and limitations regarding the techniques are discussed. Overviews of subjects including biofabrication of tissue engineering (TE) scaffolds using extrusion-based freeforming and dry powder printing of nanobiomaterials are also provided.

Freeform 3D Printing: Towards a Sustainable Approach to Additive Manufacturing
Most additive manufacturing technologies, such as 3D printing, utilize support materials in the fabrication process. Beyond the technical challenges of support removal, these materials are wasteful – increasing fabrication and processing time while impacting quality. This paper presents “Freeform Printing”, a novel design approach for 3D printing without additional auxiliary structures. A 6-axi...

The Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) was created to put interconnected 3D worlds onto every desktop. The 3D VRML format has the potential for 3D fax and TeleManufacture. An architecture and methodology of using VRML format to integrate a 3D model and Solid Freeform Fabrication system are described in this paper. The prototype software discussed in this paper demonstrates the use of VRML...
متن کاملSolid Freeform Fabrication for Autonomous Manufacturing of Complete Mobile Robots
Solid freeform fabrication (SFF) allows 3D-printing of arbitrarily shaped structures, directly from computer-aided design (CAD) data. SFF has traditionally focused on printing passive mechanical parts. Advances in this technology and developments in materials science make it feasible to begin the development of a single, compact, robotic SFF system – including a small set of materials which can...
متن کاملReplicating the Vail Register Using Multi-materials 3d Printing
Solid Freeform Fabrication is a family of manufacturing processes that create threedimensional objects by depositing material, layer-by-layer. Traditionally, this technology has been used to fabricate passive parts, but recently it has been used for producing active components such as batteries and soft-polymer actuators. In this paper we demonstrate the ability of this process to fabricate a c...
